My family (4 adults and 1 baby - mix Canadian/Australian) stayed at the Spuntone villa in Montalcino in July 2013 and I must say it was a real treat. To say that we were blown away upon arrival is an understatement - the villa and property are much better than they appear online (and it looked great online!).
The villa itself is very large inside and could easily accommodate a group larger than ours. The owners of this villa have struck a fantastic balance between that traditional italian village feel with the mod cons that many travellers now value (wifi, modern kitchen, renovated bathrooms, etc.). The bedrooms are large and comfortable with beautiful views of the valley and town. The bathrooms are very well renovated and numerous with 4 to share! The living and dining areas are both large with high ceilings. The kitchen is on the smaller side but it did the trick and comes fully-loaded with everything you could want. The property itself is stunning with an outdoor dining area (undercover) and pool with deck chairs.
The villa is on the edge (walking distance) of an amazing hilltop town called Montalcino that is postcard perfect. If you are a wine lover then the region is the place to be and you'll get to know the famous 'Brunello di Montalcino' and others. There are lovely restaurants, small boutique shops and you're never far from gelato!
We had a rental car and comfortably made day trips to Sienna (1 hour) and Florence (2 hours). We much preferred staying in this wonderful little village and making trips to the bigger towns/cities as opposed to the opposite as it was a very relaxing way to see Italy.
Montalcino was only 3 hours drive from Rome and finding your way from the airport (if you're flying into Rome as we did) was easy with GPS.
All-in-all I can say that this villa and holiday dramatically exceeded my expectations and I can only hope to return again in the future.

Large area with plenty of flora and fauna. The cottages are cute and perfect for 2 couples.

This house is stunning, very comfortable, the gardens extensive, and very remote with no one looking in on you, and not a person in site! It's an idylic escape and the most stunning rental property I've ever stayed in.

Wir waren zu acht in der Antica Fonte und haben dort eine sehr schöne Zeit verbracht. Die Unterkunft selbst war sehr schön und bot für alle ausreichend Platz.
Die Einrichtung der Unterkunft war ebenfalls ausreichend (auch wenn wir einige Zeit benötigt haben um alles in der Küche zu finden).

The appartment is situated very beautiful.
The owners are very friendly and gave us a nice welcome. It is very easy to make trips to wonderful places like Florence, Lucca ans Vinci. To sit on our own terrace and enjoy the view was very nice. Ein sehr schönes Haus im toskanischen Stil - so wie man sich Italien vorstellt. Da der Preis sich allerdings schon in der höheren Kategorie befindet haben wir etwas mehr Luxus erwartet wie z.B. einen größeren Kühlschrank mit Eiswürfelspender, speziell im großen Raum neben der oberen Terrasse. Dort wäre sicherlich auch die Möglichkeit, einen großen Fernseher an die Wand zu hängen. W-Lan-Verbindung im GANZEN Haus und außerhalb des Hauses(Terrasse)wären auch von Vorteil. Ansonsten liegt das Haus ideal. Alles ist sehr schnell (Auto) zu erreichen und Lucca ist wirlich eine wunderschöne Stadt.

However, since the price is already higher in the category, we expected a little more luxury, such as a larger refrigerator with ice dispenser, especially in the large room adjacent to the upper terrace. There would certainly be the possibility to hang a big screen TV on the wall. Wireless Internet connection in the WHOLE house and outside the house (terrace) would also be beneficial. The family that own the villa , as well as the people of the town of Radondcolli are warm and delightful people. The villa is very nice and convenit to town. We enjoyed it all.
