There are 3 main problems with this property:
1- It is infested with Scorpions, they are everywhere, even in the shower.
2- There were no fans and when we asked for at least 4 because the property is 5 bedrooms we were brought only 2, we had to buy 3 more because it was very hot and due to the insects windows cannot be left open at night. Fans are very cheap at 20 euros each so we expected that the property would have them.
3- There is practically not Internet, it is so slow it cannot be relied on for more than sending a whatsapp message without attachment. Nothing can be streamed, or downloaded unless you're willing to wait for hours. If you have any work to do then it is even worse.
Besides that the property is nice, with a large plot and if the above 3 major issues are fixed then it could be a good option for 2 families. But unfortunately one cannot sleep with Scorpions all around in all corners of the house, it is very hot without fans in the summer, and the internet is vital these days for a comfortable stay.
[Counter comments from the owner] The scorpions mentioned are absolutely harmless and are sometimes found in the toilets because they are looking for water. As the house
is in the middle of the countryside, one cannot assume that there are no insects.
For Wi-Fi, we contacted the telephone and internet companies, but the whole area has little signal coverage. We have added several devices in the house to boost the connection but that's all we can do.
As for the heat, this evening was the hottest ever recorded in the last 30 years. Usually in summer you have to sleep with blankets because it is very cool
in the evenings.
la villa era come nelle descrizioni. molto comoda e grande. nonostante il caldo di Agosto non abbiamo sofferto minimamente perchè le verande aperte offrivano sempre una ottima ventilazione.
la nostra Host e suo marito, gentilissimi hanno provveduto ad ogni nostra necessità. la villa è situata vista mare raggiungibili in pochi minuti in auto. il mare stupendo, caldo e cristallino con una spiaggia libera lunghissima e pulitissima che pur essendo in pieno agosto consentiva un distanziamento di decine di metri da un ombrellone all'altro. La vicinanza di Ispica, Modica, Noto e Siracusa hanno fatto da cornice a questa nostra stupenda vacanza.
[English translation courtesy of Easy Reserve] the villa was as described. very comfortable and large. despite the heat of August we did not suffer in the slightest because the open verandas always offered excellent ventilation.
our Host and her husband, very kind have provided for our every need. the villa is located overlooking the sea within a few minutes drive. the sea is beautiful, warm and crystal clear with a long free beach and very clean that despite being in the middle of August allowed a distance of tens of meters from one umbrella to another. The proximity of Ispica, Modica, Noto and Siracusa framed our wonderful holiday.
Incertezza al nostro arrivo in loco perche' il custode non era stato avvertito in tempo del nostro arrivo, lo e' stato solo il giorno dopo. Noi abbiamo esibito i nostri documenti e la prenotazione e la cosa si e' risolta nel giro di un'ora. Custode molto gentile e disponibile. Vista bellissima, casa spaziosa, calda per l'assenza di aria condizionata, abbastanza rumorosa per le strada che passa vicina e la ferrovia che passa a poca distanza sopra. Parecchie zanzare. La pulizia della cucina non era sufficiente. Vista bellissima e abbastanza vicina al paese che,,' molto bello. Voto 7,5.
[English translation courtesy of Easy Reserve] Uncertainty on our arrival at the site because the caretaker had not been notified in time of our arrival, it was only the next day. We showed our documents and reservation and it was resolved within an hour. Very friendly and helpful caretaker. Beautiful view, spacious house, warm due to lack of air conditioning, quite noisy due to the road passing close by and the railway passing a short distance above. Lots of mosquitoes. The cleanliness of the kitchen was not sufficient. Beautiful view and quite close to the village which is very nice. Rated 7.5.
We stayed there for a week and and were quite fascinated: The castle is set in a wondeful landscape. The pool is nice, the restauarnt was great.
Check - in and chek-out were without problems. The appartment was nice.
You definetly need a car - but then Florence, Siena and Pisa are within easy reach.
This was a lovely place to stay. Two families sharing great air con, pool and the most amazing views. The sunset at night over the hills was amazing. Very helpful and kind and happy to help however they could when we had an issue with our car. Fantastic setting.
Wie schon viele Jahre zuvor, kommen wir immer wieder gerne in's Podere Varlunga.
Es gibt nichts schöneres als vom Pool aus die wunderbare Aussicht zu genießen.
Für uns ist es das perfekte Ferienhaus, mit super netten Eigentümern, die das Haus picobello in Ordnung halten. Da das Grundstück komplett eingezäunt ist, ist es auch für unseren Hund hier sicher. Wir können das Haus uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen.

There is nothing better than enjoying the wonderful view from the pool.
For us, it is the perfect holiday home, with super nice owners who keep the house in picobello order. Since the property is completely fenced in, it is also safe for our dog here. We can recommend the house without hesitation.
We had a fantastic holiday at this villa. We were there the first two weeks of August, so expected it to be hot, and it was. The downstairs bedroom is always cool, the other bedrooms needed fans, we were supplied with two and the owner supplied another two on request.
It has two fridge freezers which were used throughout our stay!
The pool is big and perfect for all of us to enjoy, the two terraces allowed all of us to eat together or enjoy time apart. BBQ was very useful and used a lot. The views from the back of the villa are fantastic, with a REAL Tuscany look and feel to the horizon.
It is situated in a small village and we did find it difficult to find, we would recommend the arrival instruction are made clearer.
The roads to and from the villa are windy as expected, but we found the location was perfect for us all to explore Tuscany.
A great place to stay.
We stayed at the Villa Giotto throughout August 2022 and had a wonderful family holiday. The setting is beautiful in the hills above Castiglion Fiorentino, overlooking olive groves and the vineyard - we were delighted to see wild boar on occasions! The villa itself is spectacular and even better than the photographs would suggest. The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful and made our stay very straightforward and relaxed. The general location is excellent for visits to Siena and Florence although Cortona, Arezzo, Civitella and Castiglion Fiorentino are all worth visiting and have their own charm, especially in August as many towns hold festivals with long histories. We were so impressed that we are now seriously considering a return visit in the future.
